Description

A watercolor painting of the youngest Temple brothers, Walter and Charles, by Valentin Wolfenstein photography studio, ca. 1870s. Walter appears to be five years old and is pictured on the right. He wears a buttoned down coat and his hair parted to one side. He leans toward the left against his younger brother. Charles is about one to two years of age and is seated on a covered table. He wears a blue coat with buttons on flaps that run down from the neck to the hem and shoes. His hair is parted down the middle and slicked to the sides. At the bottom right is the embossed signature of Wolfenstein. With heavy silverfish damage, abrasions along the edge, moisture stain on the bottom edge, and minor foxing on the reverse, it is in fair condition overall.
