Description

Color: Brown A pair, items a) and b), of light brown women's spats, ca. 1900. The items are mainly suede leather with metal buckles and leather straps. There is a tan-colored edging at the top and four buttons and button holes on the sides. Below the button holes on one side is the metal clasp, while on the other is the leather strap stitched onto a leather lining which covers all edging and stress points of the item. Embossed into the straps is "MADE / IN / ENGLAND" and "NY 70 322 8." There are four adjustment holes in the straps, as well. Stamped in the inner lining of each spat is the size number "8." The fabric lining on the inside of the buttons and buttonholes on each item has numerous discoloration spots and there is wear on both items, as well as loose threads on the inside tops of the pieces, so the spats are in fair condition.
