Description
A cabinet card photo of pampus grass and lane, Los Angeles, California. ca. 1890s. There is a horse and buggy coming down a dirt lane with pampus grass on either side of the lane. The back notes that the grass blooms in the early fall and will bloom for about four months. To prevent the grass from blowing to pieces, they pick the grass when it is still green and can preserve it this way for a few years. The image was taken by Best & Co. at 505 1/2 S. Spring Street in Los Angeles. With stains, holes on the right side, soiling on the front and back, and abrasion, moderate discoloration, the object is in good condition overall.
