A parasol, ca. 1860s. The item has a tapered oak handle, a decorative finial in a walnut color and a metal stem on which there are two mechanisms that can be depressed to release the umbrella for opening and closing. The item was re-covered with an irridized rayon in a dark brown color. With the stem slightly bend and the handle lightly worn, the overall condition is good.
