"The Park Nurseries," a nursery supply catalog issued by Holm & Olson, Inc., 1927. The 35-page artifact has a blue cover with a colorimage of a gray house with red roof and a gray fence, green lawn and green, gray and red tinted bushes, shrubs and trees with the white outlines of clouds above. Below, in red, is the publication title, with the company name and location at the bottom. On the center of the back cover is an oval panel within which is an image of a reflecting pool and enclosed seating area in gray and red with green landscaping. Above is the phrase "Home Landscapes / 1927," and below is the publication name and the company name and their location of business. The inside front cover is a statement about the company with page 1 following and containing information to read before ordering. Material on "A Complete Landscape Service" and how to consult the company is on page 2, aftre which are product offerings. These are divided into: hardy ornamental trees; evergreens; ornamental shrubs for northern gardens; hedges; vines; hardy perennial flowers; irises; peonies; phloxes; roses; fruits; and garden books, grass seed, and fertilizers. For plants, descriptions include seasonal bloom times, sizes of growth, color of flowers and prices. Many are accompanied by black and white photographs. Small boxes on some pages explain how to plant or trim. Others help select plants according to yard conditions, season, height or color. Page 17 offers three comprehensive landscape plans and page 26 has packaged plant collections. An index is on the inside back cover. Other than dented cover corners and a few creases, little wear or damage is present and the object is in good condition.Lexicon
