Color: Blue and white
A Parliament brand cigarette box, ca. 1935. The paper box is white with blue designs, including, on the front and back, the brand name at the center with the words "RECESSED / FILTER" and "CIGARETTES" below the name and a crest with the letter P surmounting a blue-colored triangular design. On the front, this crest design is mainly on the lid, while on the back it is largely covered by a blue 20-cent revenue stamp with an image of DeWitt Clinton. The side panels have the brand name with one panel giving information on the use of federal stamps and giving the permit number and the other panel listing the manufacturer, Benson & Hedges and place of business, New York. The top and bottom panels have the brand name, triangular crest design upon which is a crown. There is an inner bag of gold foil which held the cigarettes. The box was found in the attic of La Casa Nueva during the installation of insulation. In fair condition, the box has been significantly dented on the front panel; is discolored on the lid and top of the back; has a stain at the lower center of the front; and is creased on one side panel and the bottom panel.Lexicon
