Description

PARTIAL LETTER OF FRANCIS W. TEMPLE, CA. FEBRUARY 1888 Letter: A portion, page eight and reverse, of a letter written by Francis W. Temple, ca. February 1888. The letter is folded in thirds and is hand written on lined paper in black ink. Mention is made of the Yuma Indians, indicating that the letter was written in southeastern California or southwestern Arizona. There is a discussion of conditions at this place, where Francis was staying because of illness, likely the tuberculosis that killed him in August 1888. Mention is made of Walter Temple, as well. There is also note of a whisky license and Francis' desire to return to the Homestead to "rack off" wine. There are no other features to identify the letter at this time. In fair condition with discoloration, creases, and edge wear. From the Thomas W. Temple II Collection. Donated by Ruth Ann Michaelis. None
