Description

Color: Blue; Green; Red "Pastries and Desserts," compiled by the California Home Economics Association, Southern Section and printed by Clyde Browne, Los Angeles, 1928 revised edition. The red softcover has a blue border on the front cover, within which is an image of two women preparing food on a candlelit table and the title beneath them. After a short foreward by the compiler's book committee, the listings begin with pastries organized by general directions, pie crust making, baking temperature, several kinds of pies, and tarts. Sections on cornstarch, flour and tapioca desserts; cereal desserts; custards; fruit desserts; gelatine desserts; ice box cakes; puddings; frozen desserts; sauces; and others follow. There is also an index at the back. With spine and edge rubbing, creases on some pages, surface soiling, discoloration to the cover and pages, fading, folds at the top right corner of the first ten pages, foxing, losses along the spine, top right corner, and the middle of page 12, several marks and inscriptions, moisture damage, stains at several places, staple tarnish on pages, and spine and edge tears, the condition is fair.
