Description

Color: Blue; Gold; Yellow "Patio Gardens," by Helen Morgenthau Fox (New York: Macmillan Company, 1929), 228 pp. The book has a yellow hardcover with a twelve-point geometric design in blue at the center of the front. The spine, which is lined with blue fabric, has the title, author's name, and publisher in gold. Written in blue ink on the top left of the inside front cover is, "MRS. W. J. FICKENGER / SEPT. 1934." At the beginning of the artifact is a title page, an introduction, table of contents, and list of illustrations. There are eleven chapters which deal with aspects of Spanish gardens and patios such as ornament, garden walls, gardening with pots, and gardening in small spaces. At the end is a bibliography and an index. Many black and white illustrations are included. With abrasions, dented corners; pest damage on the first flysheet; surface soiling, stains; and a humid odor, the object is in fair condition overall.
