"Peerless Creamery Cook Book," published by the Peerless Creamery, 1926. The 32-page booklet has a white cardstock cover with the title in black at the top of the front. At the center is a color-tinted photograph of a woman holding a girl on her lap. The girl holds a telephone receiver to her ear. At the bottom of the photograph is the caption, "Be sure to send an extra quart every day." At the beginning of the inside are a brief article explaining the importance of whipped cream and how to make it and a title page. The artifact contains a variety of recipes that all share the characteristics of low cost, ease of preparation, and nutrition. Some of the recipes included are for chowder and a variety of soups; seafood; vegetables; salads; desserts; bread; and more. At the end is a suggestion on how to spend a ten-dollar bill to buy nutritious foods. In fair condition, the artifact has some creases; heavy soiling; yellowing of the pages; moisture damage; stains; tarnish on the staples; and overall wear.
