Color: Black; White
A black and white photograph of performers at the home of Pio Pico, ca. 1920s. At the center is a woman in a courtyard. She wears a mantilla and a long pleaded dress. She holds the dress slightly up and walks towards the camera. To the left is a wood square-shaped well and behind this stands a musician with a guitar. He wears a wide-brim hat, long-sleeve shirt, and a sash. A row of spectators sit across the back and clap. At the right of the back is the shingled roof-top and trellis of the home. At the left are many trees. The back of a man's head is at the center of the foreground and to the left is the leg of a man who is out of view. At the top of the back is a stamp with the words, "ANDERSON / Photo Service / EL MONTE." At the bottom left corner is the number, "33." The photograph was housed in Agnes Temple's album which is item 96.7.94.1 along with many other photographs which span 96.7.1.1-.93.1. Contact sheets 2000.159.1.1-.8 show the original positioning of the images within the album. With only a slight yellowing of the paper, the artifact is in good condition.
