PERRY WORDEN TO WALTER P. TEMPLE, 3 MARCH 1925
A letter, consisting of three separate documents (a-c), with envelope (d) from Perry Worden to Walter P. Temple, 3 March 1925. The first two documents are on plain thin white typing paper. The third document is on plain legal-sized stationery. The envelope is also on plain white stationery. Dated 3 March, the first document lists the enclosures (b-c); discusses a desire to visit; notes Worden had a cold; and mentions a dinner at the home of Temple's attorney, George Woodruff, at which Worden would present data for the Workman and Temple book he was working on. The second document is a carbon copy of a letter to Temple's cousin, Ellen Bancroft, in which mention was made of letters between the California and New England Temples in the 1840s given by Mrs. Bancroft to Walter Temple. The last document is a draft editorial for the Temple Times by Worden concerning material on early southern California towns from the Worden-edited autobiography of Harris Newmark linked to Temple's founding of the Town of Temple. All three documents are in fair condition, with the first two folded into sixths; with some small acid stains; creases; and a small tear at the bottom of the first. The third is folded into ninths; has dark discoloration; some creases; and two small acid stains. The envelope is in poor condition with a wide area of liquid and acid stains on both sides; many creases; bent corners; and the reverse opened along the flap. Aside from the address, the envelope has Thomas W. Temple II's notation in pencil at the top, "Feb-25", although one of the letters is dated 3 March.
