Description

Color: Black; White A photograph envelope of Thomas W. Temple II, ca. 1950s. The front has a framed area within a brown border with the printed phrase "EXPERT PHOTO FINISHING SERVICE." Below in Temple's handwriting is the pencil inscription "Casa Vieja, Mausoleum / Bishop / & Casa Nueva," the first named being the Workman House and "Bishop" probably referring to the presiding over a funeral or the dedication of the Mausoleum by Bishop Cantwell in the 1920s. At the right in the hand of Temple's widow, Gabriela Sutter, is the name "Girvigian," this being the architect who oversaw the restoration of the Homestead in the 1970s. On the back is information for completing a developing order, dated 11 October 1943. Temple also wrote in pencil at the left center "Casa Vieja / & Nueva / Mausoleum." There is a large ink stain at the bottom of the back, several tears and loose elements, heavy darkening, creases, pin holes, and much edge wear, so the overall condition is poor.
