a)Salt print of Antonia Margarita Workman de Temple on cream pasteboard, hand-touched with black watercolor and surrounded by a seaweed garland glued around the portrait. b) Light blue wooden frame insert with oval window and gilt border around the window. Incised line and geometric motifs at each corner in gilt and brown. c) Wooden frame with beveled edge, multiple raised lines around the interior and exterior edges, cast metal ormolu at corners in "C" scroll motifs, and gilt finish. d) Wooden frame backing with rough finish. Photograph and frame are in poor physical condition and overall appearance is poor. A) F. Wolfenstein/PHOTOGRAPHER/Temple Block/LOS ANGELES, CAL. [stamped in black ink on back] c) CONCHITA GREGORIA VIGARE [across top front} and TOMASITO WORKMAN TEMPLE [across left side]. There are additional indecipherable names across the right side and bottom. Note: examination in May 1998 of lettering on item c) shows the following: left side) Tomasito Workman Temple; top) Conchita Gregoria Vigare; right) Su prima hermana [your dear sister], Rancho La Merced; bottom) a la edad de dos ano[s] [at the age of two years.] It is likely that this frame housed another photograph than the A. M. W. Temple print, perhaps one of a 2-year old Conchita Vigare and Thomas W. Temple and that the framed print was a gift from a female member of the Temple family from Rancho La Merced (perhaps A. M. W.]
