Description

Color: Black; Blue; Red; White; Yellow "Picture Play," June 1928, published by Street & Smith Corporation, New York. The front cover has the title in red letters at the top with the issue date and price in smaller black letters below and to the right. The title of a serial fictional piece and the author's name is at the bottom. A painting by Modest Stein of actress Phyllis Haver forms the backdrop for the cover. Contents include items on specific films; photographs of stars before they became famous; springtime fashions as worn by actresses; articles on specific stars and their personal lives; articles by industry observers; industry news; and others. There are many photographs of star portraits and film scenes, as well as many advertisements, some of them by film companies showing stars and identifying new films. With the cover edges covered in black tape; some interior pages taped where tears occurred; page browning; surface soiling; a hole at the bottom of page one; and small tears along brittle edges on some pages, the overall condition is fair.
