"Picturesque Petroleum," George Humphrey, "The Wide World Magazine," 1898. The article largely covers oil production in the Caucasus Mountains in what is now Azerbaijan, but there is a paragraph and a plate about the fairly recent discovery of oil in Los Angeles. Portions of two fictional works are also part of the excerpt from the magazine. With browning, creases and very light soiling, the condition is good overall.Lexicon
