Description

PIO PICO GALLERY CONSTRUCTION FROM THE SOUTHEAST, 1977 Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of the Pio Pico Gallery from the southeast, 3 February 1977. The building is under construction in the center on a raised concrete platform with a long concrete bench seen on the left and right sides. Capped by a concrete roof and pillars on each of the corners, the structure in the middle has a wood frame with wood studs on the left and right. To the right background are trees surrounding the Water Tower which is behind a chain-link fence and has a square body and vertical arched windows on the south and east walls of the second floor, and a tank area on top and a pavilion roof over it. On the left background are three palms, another tree, and a utility post. In the foreground, around the construction site, is a dirt field with pipes in the center; two trees on the far left and right are in the foreground. On the back bottom right corner is a label crediting Duane C. Alan as the photographer and providing his business information. Two identical images are in the collection and are in good condition.
