Description

PIO PICO MEMORIAL WALKWAY CONSTRUCTION LOOKING WEST Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of the Pio Pico Memorial Walkway construction looking west, 3 February 1977. The walkway, at the center running west, has three concrete borders; two on the left, one on the right. Dirt is in the spaces between the borders, except for the top where five men are adding brick to the center area. Along the right edge are three round reinforced concrete bases for planters and, to the far right, is a dirt field, is a fork-lift and a flat-bed truck, and two automobiles. To the far left is a dirt area with several mounds of rocks and debris. In the background left are trees and a commercial building, while near the center, at the end of the walkway, is the Pio Pico Gallery construction. The building has a flat concrete roof with two rectangular pillars on either end, and an inner wood frame. On the right are several trees surrounding the water tower; only part of the structure's body, Water Tank deck, and pavilion roof can be seen. Seen on the far right is the east upper part of the Workman House with a pitched roof and arched second-story window. Below is a portable trailer with two doors each between two windows; three automobiles are parked in front of the trailer but behind a chain-link fence that surrounds the historic area perimeter. A label on the back bottom right corner credits Duane C. Alan with the photography and provides his business information. Two identical images are provided and are in good condition. Number-Units: 1
