Description

PIONEER NOTES FROM THE DIARIES OF JUDGE BENJAMIN HAYES Color: Blue "Pioneer Notes from the Diaries of Judge Benjamin Hayes" by Benjamin Hayes and edited by Marjorie Tisdale Wolcott (Los Angeles: Marjorie Tisdale Wolcott, 1929), 307 pp. The blue hardcover book, without dustjacket, has the title in gold lettering on both the spine and front cover and consists of edited reminiscences of the former Los Angeles county judge from his diaries in the period 1849 to 1875. The work includes several black and white photographs and is indexed. Chapters concern his years living in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and San Diego. Although there are a few scratches on the back cover, the stiffness of the spine indicates that the book has never been read and seldomly handled, so it is in good condition.
