Description

PLASTER RESTORATION AT THE WORKMAN HOUSE NORTH PORCH Color: Brown; White A color polaroid photograph of the plasterwork restoration at the north porch of the Workman House, 5 December 1978. Artisan Dorothy Nersesian is on a wooden ladder in the corner with her right hand along one edge of the "granite blocks" being restored. Work was progressing on the north wall and it appears that the east wall is largely completed. The door in this latter wall is open and the frame is a dark brown, before it was painted with a finish coat. A small portion of the floor is visible at the lower right and a red level rests against the wall beneath the ladder. At far right is a part of a window, the edges of which are masked for the replastering project. On the reverse is the ink inscription "Workman Residence / North porch / decorative painting in / progress for simulated / granite blocks - restoration / of original as-found / plaster work / D. Nersesian at corner / (DN Graphics) / photo by archt. 12-5-78." Beneath this is a stamp for restoration architect Raymond Girvigian with his name, address, and telephone number, covered by a piece of tape. Aside from surface soiling the lower front, the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
