"Pocket Manual of Homeopathic Materia Medica Comprising the Characteristic and Guiding Symptoms of All Remedies," by William Boericke, M. D. (Ninth ed., Philadelphia: Boericke & Runyon and Boericke & Tafel, Inc., 1927), 1042 pp. With a black hardcover, the book has the title and the author's name in gold on the top of the front cover and at the top of the spine. The publisher's name is at the bottom of the spine. Gold lines the page edges. A title page, a preface to the ninth edition, and a prefatory note are at the beginning. Section one describes a great number of maladies, under which are subheadings describing how each affects different parts of the body, such as the mind, eyes, and ears. A remedy along with the recommended dosage is listed for each. Section two lists many parts of the body such as the head, tongue, and stomach along with ailments that can attack these areas and their symptoms. An index and a list of remedies are at the end. The artifact has only minor wear such as light abrasions at the top and bottom of the spine, and red ink markings on the inside, but is otherwise in good condition.Lexicon
