Description

POST OFFICE AND FEDERAL BUILDING, LOS ANGELES, CA. 1910s Color: Black; Blue; Red; White A colored photo postcard of the post office and federal building, Los Angeles, ca. 1910s. The view is taken from the middle of an intersection in front of the building and shows the entirety of the frontage on both streets and at the corner, where the entrance is. The lower two floors have a white exterior, and the upper floors are red. In the street are a streetcar, with a sign reading "EAGLE ROCK, VALLEY," some horse-drawn conveyances, and a few persons in front of the building or on the sidewalk. Only very small sections of nearby structures are at the far left and right. At the top, in red letters, is the caption "2828 - New $1,500,000 Post Office and Federal Building, Los Angeles, California." On the reverse of the unused card is a space at the left for a message and at the right for an address. At the top right is the word "POST CARD", while at the upper right is a box for the stamp. At the bottom left is the publisher's name and business location. With surface soiling, stains, especially at the upper right of the back and top left of the front, dented corners, creases, and a triangular area of acid burns from an impression made by another object on the right of the reverse, the overall condition is fair.
