Description

A postal card from The Breakfast Club, Los Angeles, copyright 1929. The item has a cryptogram with a cartoon of men eating (presumably breakfast) while caricatured black men serve them. At the right of the face is a photograph of the club's "Pillar of Friendship." Other wording notes that the organization was "Non-Political, Non-Sectarian, Non-Partisan" and that it was "Not a Church, Not a Lodge, Not a Service Club, but 'The Shrine of Friendship.'" There is also a reference to "The Democracy of Ham and Eggs." On the reverse is the mailing side with, under the correspondence portion, an image of a wooden horse and the phrase "Hello, Ham! Hello, Egg!" With some creases and minor soiling, the condition is good.
