PRINCE'S HEAD RESET AT THE LA CASA NUEVA COURTYARD BALCONY
Color: Brown
A copy of a color polaroid photograph of the restored Prince's head reset at the La Casa Nueva courtyard balcony, 28 February 1979. The close-up shows the reset piece, which consists of two sections, the top part of the head corresponding to the top piece of the beam, which still needed to be reset, and the bottom which was attached to the lower part of the beam. With both parts of the head reattached, there are pieces of tape at the beam end and on the face of the head to help the adhesive bond. There is a hand at the beam next to the head. In the background is part of the balcony and portions of two of the beams, including the recently reset cat's head are blurry but notable. An inscription in black ink on the reverse reads "Temple Mansion / detail of wood carved / dog ("Prince") family pet / at center of south patio / prior to completion of / restoration (glued pieces / temporarily taped) / photo by archt. 2/28/79." Below this, covered by a piece of tape, is the stamp of restoration architect Raymond Girvigian with his name, address, and telephone number. With little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition.
