PRINT ADVERTISEMENT FOR DIAMOND WALNUTS AND CALIFORNIA ASPARAGUS

A sheet of two advertisements, one of Diamond walnuts and the other for California canned asparagus, from a print sample book, 1928. Printed on a textured paper, the walnut ad has an image of a bowl of walnuts pictured with an orange, a sprig of holly, and a bunch of grapes. A Spanish galleon is in the background and there are shelled and partially opened walnus with a nutcracker around the bowl. A description of the crop, the name and address of the California Walnut Growers Association and the brand name of Diamond are also on the ad, with the name of the preparer, The H. K. McKann Company, at the bottom left. On the reverse is an advertisement for asparagus with color images of two dishes including the vegetable, these being a salad and cooked asparagus with butter, at the upper left and bottom. A description of the vegetable, the product name, and images of a free recipe book, available from the Canners League of California, and of three types of packaging for asparagus, are at the bottom. Aside from yellowing and some minor stains, the artifact is in good condition.Lexicon
