Description

Color: Black; White A proof sheet with 26 exposures, three of these of gray scales and the rest being differing views of a tintype with Temple family members from 1906. Exposures 0-22 are of the tintype, taken at various light settings, so that the images differ significantly in light and dark tones. Exposures 0-15 are closeups of the group, which consisted of Laura Temple's mother at the front left; Susie Castino Temple in the middle; and Laura Temple at the right. Standing are Charles P. Temple at left, with Charles P., Jr. in his arms and Walter P. Temple at right, with Thomas W. II in his arms. The women are dressed largely in black dresses and Mrs. Gonzales and Laura Temple in black bonnets and Susie Temple in a white bonnet. Charles Temple wears a light-colored turtleneck sweater, while Walter Temple wears a dark suit. The boys clothes are difficult to determine, but Charles, Jr. wears a dark-colored cap. Exposures 16-22 are views of the tintype against a background, so that the uneven edges of the original, owned by Gabriela Sutter, widow of Thomas Temple, are noted. The grayscale images show ranges of white, gray and black in square and rectagular-shaped areas with numbers 1-19 and letters A, m and B as measurement markers and the title "KODAK Gray Scale" and Kodak logo on each exposure. As a new artifact, there is no wear or damage and the object is in mint condition.
