Description
PROOF SHEETS OF VIEWS OF EL CAMPO SANTO AND ST. NICHOLAS' CHAPEL
Color: Black; White
Two black and white proof sheets with 35 exposures of El Campo Santo cemetery and St. Nicholas' Chapel, taken by Max van Balgooy in 1989. Fifteen of the images show the desecrated cemetery about 1906, before Walter P. Temple filed suit against the owner of the Homestead over the destruction of the cemetery. Four of the images are of inscriptions on the back of these views, giving information as well as citing the court case. Nine of the exposures are of St. Nicholas' chapel, with various views of the one original image taken, as well as three images of the inscription on the back. Four exposures are of a "sign" made by the photographer to identify the set of images. Several shots of one image were often taken with different light levels. In good condition, the object shows little indication of wear or damage.
