Description

"PROPER TREATMENT FOR FLOORS, WOODWORK AND FURNITURE" Color: Black; Brown; Yellow "The Proper Treatment for Floors, Woodwork and Furniture," issued by S. C. Johnson & Son, 1925. The 28-page catalog has a brown paper cover with a double-line border around the front. At the top is a color drawing of a woman dusting a dining room table and a maid polishing the room's wood floor. Below this is the title, name and location of the company all in black. Under the company's name in red are the words, "The Wood Finishing Authorities." At the beginning of the inside is a list of branches and a foreword. There are many articles on the care of woodwork and other household materials using the company's many products. Some of the subjects covered include finishing new woodwork; refinishing old woodwork and floors; prolonging the life of linoleum; applying varnish and enamels; and waxing with liquid wax. There are many color and black and white drawings throughout. Included at the middle are color samples of the company's wood dye. At the back is an index. With abrasions; brittleness of the cover; creases; folds; tears; surface soiling; and stains, the artifact is in poor condition.
