PUBLICATIONS OF THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, VOLUME 2, NUMBER 1, 1891
Color: Green; White
"Publications of the Historical Society of Southern California, Volume 2, Part 1," printed by the Franklin Printing Company, 1891. The volume has a cover of green cloth with speckled paper edges and gold printing. Although the cover indicates the volume consists of the annual publications from 1884, 1886, 1887, 1888-89, 1890, and 1891 and there is a title page and table contents for these years, the contents are actually of volume 2, part 1 from 1891 beginning with this issue's prefatory pages, and table of contents. The items listed on the table then follow and consist of nineteen documents from the collection of San Francisco capitalist Adolph Sutro concerning Spanish-era California. There are 203 pages of this material, followed by a small errata section. These documents are given in Spanish with English translations following each. On the inside front cover is the ex-libris label of a former owner. It appearing that the volume has hardly been used, because the binding is tight and there is only slight wear on the edges from storage, the artifact is in good condition.Lexicon
