Description

"R.A. Rowan and Co.'s Windsor Square," ca. 1921. The map is half of those represented in items .2 through .5, so that the southern portion of the 200-acre area is shown, bordered by Third Street on the north to Wilshire Boulevard on the south and from just west of Plymouth Avenue on the west to east of Irving Boulevard on the east. This map consists of lots arranged on straight, linear streets and was cut after the portion north of Third Street was sold and separately subdivided as New Windsor Square (see later maps in the accession). There is some text about the project and contact information for the Rowan Company, but some of it was lost in the cut. This edition shows that most lots were sold, except for those on the extremities at Wilshire and Third. There is a pencil inscription at the upper right "OK / 4/7/21." With original folds, minor creases and some edge wear, the general condition is fair.
