Description

RACE FINISH, ASCOT SPEEDWAY, LOS ANGELES, 1920s Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of the finish of a automobile race at Ascot Speedway in Los Angeles, 1920s. The view is from a grandstand and shows cars crossing the finish line on the dirt track. Officals are at either end of the white line and the infield has a covered stand, several race cars and automobiles, pit crews, and spectators. In the background are largely open hills with some hint of development at the top right. In the foreground are the heads of some of the spectators near the photographer in the stands. In pencil on the back is the inscription "Ascot / Speedway / Los Angeles" and the identification number "e43" at the upper right. Aside from light discoloration of the paper on the back, very small edge stains and wear, and slightly dented corners, the item is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
