79.10.1.2Description
Radio - table model, Art Deco design "Crosley" radio, dark wood with floral carving on front, stylized scroll carvings on side, marked on back of speaker "Model 274" "Crosley Speaker, The Crosley Radio Corporation, Cincinnati, Ohio, RE 15.99, 1892, 782, Made In U.S.A.", label inside cabinet marked "Crosley Repwood. Powell Crosley, Jr. President". (Note from David Clark 02/12/1998: The quality of the cataloging here is very poor. The cataloger, unnamed, has put the time period for an Art Deco style radio as 1892, apparently mistaking an identification number on the radio as a date. Marconi sent the first radio signal in 1895, with home sets not becoming common until the 1920s, and Art Deco was a style of the 1920s, so the cataloger's assignment for the date as "circa 1890s" is obviously incorrect.)Lexicon
