"Railroad to the Pacific Ocean," House Report 773, 29th Congress, 1st Session, 13 July 1846. The document, accompanying bill 513, was from Robert Smith of the Committee on Roads and Canals and mainly concerns the possibility of a road between the navigable portions of the Missouri and Columbia rivers. There is also a report by Senator Thomas H. Benton on the subject, a reprint from an Ohio newspaper, extracts from a report by Joshua Pilcher, former U. S. superintendent of Indian Affairs, other letters, notes, and reports, a detailed set of notes concerning costs of a survey party, and other material. With light creases, light surface soiling, page browning, losses at the top right corner of the first page, and some pencil marks at the top of the front, the general condition is good.Lexicon
