Description

Color: Silver A Ray-O-Vac flashlight, ca. 1928. The item is made of a light metal and has a fluted section to hold the instrument which is about 3 5/8" in length. Ther are four other components that have varying numbers of raised bands. About three-quarters up the light is a black switch, which is pressed to one side or the other to turn the artifact on and off. At the wide end is the glass cover that protects the bulb and a bulb is in the socket. On the reverse side from the switch is an identifying plate with "RAY-O-VAC / CASE ROTOMATIC 2263 / BATTERY TWO NO. 3 UNITS PAT. MAY 20 (?) 1928 / LAMP NO. 14 MADE IN U.S.A." Due to rubbing, some of the features on the label, such as the date are worn. At the butt end is the name "RAY-O-VAC" with a sunburst-like design at the top and bottom. There are no batteries inside the item, which has a 1" long crack in the portion that screws the top onto the body. There are also general abrasions, tarnish, soiling, scratches, and general wear, so the item is in fair condition.
