RECEIPT TO F.P.F. TEMPLE FROM THE UNITED STATES HOTEL, 1874
A color photograph of a receipt, dated 1 August 1874, to F.P.F. Temple from the United States Hotel, Los Angeles, for services in July 1874. The receipt, showing an image of the hotel and giving the proprietors' names (H. Hammel and Denker), was kept in a tin deed box owned by Temple and now owned by Charles and Margaret Coker. Mr. Coker is a descendant of William W. Jenkins, friend of Temple and administrator of his estate. Photograph taken by Paul Spitzzeri, June 1995.
