Description

RECEIPTS, UNION MUTUAL BUILDING AND LOAN ASSN TO WALTER P. TEMPLE, 1901-04 Color: Black; White A set of eleven receipts from the Union Mutual Building and Loan Association to Walter P. Temple, 1901-1904. The items are dated 18 October 1901 to 9 November 1904 and all but one are applied to a loan. The one exception was mostly to paying a loan and a small amount to the account of Temple's brother, Charles. The forms are identical in terms of where information is placed; that is, the city, state, and date at the top, space for the payee's name below this, lines for the dollar amount and the application of funds in the center, and space for the signature of a bank employee at the bottom right and for the numerical dollar value at the lower left, but the design of some of them has an engraved image of a dog, while others have one of a woman. Three other indiviual receipts are of differing designs, none having any engraved images, but all containing the same basic information as the others. While there are folds, browning, creases, dented corners, and some small tears on most, and one receipt is torn neatly in half, the overall condition is good.
