Description
REPLICATED DOORS FOR LA CASA NUEVA UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Color: Brown
A color photograph of reproduction wood doors being made for La Casa Nueva, ca. 1979. At upper left, the maker of the doors, Don Shepherd, is tightening one of three clamps that appear to be used to help join the separate wood pieces of the door as they are adhered together. The door seems to be resting on a low support on the floor of the dining room (note the three-part door at the background.) The doors, either for the dining room or the library, later had carved panels, made by Harvey Morris, added to them. At the upper left of the reverse is a pencil inscription by a former museum curator reading "Source: Bill Kalnowski", while at the lower left is a black ink inscription reading "Door being clamped / Don Sheppard." With little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition.
