Description

"Report of the Committee on Mines and Mining Interests, To Whom was Referred the Memorial of Citizens of San Francisco" unnumbered document of the California Assembly, Session of 1856. The item concerns the request of business interests in San Francisco to end a tax on Chinese immigrants as part of a state act passed in 1855 to discourage immigration. The committee report upbraids the San Francisco business people and terms them "disloyal" for supporting the disobeying of the act. As disbound with loose pages and having browning, creases, and soiling, the condition is fair.
