Description
"Report of the Secretary of War Communicating an Answer to a Resolution of the Senate, a Report of E. F. Beale of his Exploration for a Wagon Road from Fort Defiance, in New Mexico, to the Western Borders of California," Senate Ex. Doc. No. 43, 35th Congress, 1st Session, 26 March 1858. The item has a short note from War Secretary John B. Floyd to Vice-President John C. Breckinridge, followed by Beale's report, laying out the best route for the road. Also of note is the use of camels in Beale's expedition. As bound in cloth boards, which are rubbed, scuffed, and soiled, but pages rather clean, it is in good overall condition.
