Description

REPORT, TRAFFIC COMMISSION, LOS ANGELES CITY AND COUNTY, 1928 Color: Black; White The annual report of The Traffic Commission of the City and County of Los Angeles, including those of the President, the Major Highways Committee, and the Rapid Transit Committee, 31 December 1928. In a classic-style bordered box on the front cover is the commission name at the top, followed by a listing of the three aforementioned reports at the center, and the date of issue at the bottom. The report includes a foreword; a listing of traffic regulation issues, including specific corridors and intersections, items concerning traffic violations, parking, trucks, safety zone abolition, parades, signals, publicity, an automobile show, and the appointment of a new secretary, after the previous officer fled after embezzling funds; Street Improvements and Maintenance, specifically street repairs and maintenance, grade separations, bridges, and underground repairs; the report of the Major Highways Committee and progress made on the Major Traffic Street Plan, including the condemnation of land for street widening and opening projects, tax rate increase revenues for nineteen street projects, and paving on eighteen major thoroughfares; and a short item from the Rapid Transit Committee that little activity occurred in 1928, although strong demand to outlying areas downtown was noted. At the back are listings of committee officers, directors, technical staff, and subcommitee members, including George H. Woodruff, Walter Temple's attorney, who was on the Major Highways Committee. With acid burns, creases, some browning, and foxing, the item is in good overall condition.
