REPRODUCED CAST-IRON DOOR HINGE FOR LA CASA NUEVA
Color: Brown
A color polaroid photograph of a cast-iron hinge from a french door in the La Casa Nueva Living Room, 1979. The hinge rests against the unfinished base of a green painted wood support, much like the one that is at the front of the Workman House. The location of the photograph, however, is not known; a concrete curb at the background right may indicate the center driveway gate near the Glorieta. Evidently two pieces joined together. the item has a hole at the joined point and three at the end of the upper part for affixing to the door or gate for which it was designed. A white tag is tied to the hinge, but the few words that can be deciphered do not give much information. This original hinge was being replicated for the reproduced east french door. In good condition, the artifact shows little indication of wear or damage.
