REPRODUCED CAST-IRON DOOR HINGE FOR LA CASA NUEVA
Color: Brown
A color polaroid photograph of a cast-iron hinge from a french door in the Living Room of La Casa Nueva, ca. 1979. The hinge rests against the unfinished base of a green painted wood support, much like the one that is at the front of the Workman House. The location of the photograph, however, is not known; a concrete curb at the background right may indicate the center driveway gate near the Glorieta. Evidently two pieces joined together. the item has a hole at the joined point and three at the end of the upper part for affixing to the door or gate for which it was designed. There is a white tag attached to the hinge, but the two words that can be discerned do not provide much information. This photo was taken prior to replicating this original for the reproduced east french door. At the bottom of the artifact, in green ink, is the inscription "Temple House Door Hardware To / be Replicated." With little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition.
