Color: Gold; Green
A reproduction of the glass plaque from the Workman House commemorating William Workman's arrival to California. The rectangular-shaped piece of glass has a dark green coating and an inscription in gold lettering reading: "PUENTE / WM. WORKMAN, / Arrived Nov. 5th Guy-Fawkes,day / 1841." At either end of the word "PUENTE" are two designs that appear to be brackets, while there are designs at both ends of "1841" at the bottom, though their shapes are not easily describable, resembling interconnected "L" shapes. There are two copies, one to be placed at the Workman House, where the original was until about 1900 and the other to go on the wall of the La Casa Nueva Library, where it was housed from 1926 to about 1930. The copy was framed and made from the original, which is still in family hands. As a newly created object, the plaque is in mint condition.
