Description

RESTORATION OF PLASTER, NORTH PORCH OF THE WORKMAN HOUSE Color: Brown; White A color polaroid photograph of the restoration of the decorative granite-block plasterwork of the Workman House north porch, ca. January 1979. Two artisans from DN Graphics, including owner Dorothy Nersesian at left and an unidentified woman at right, are on wooden ladders working on the eastern end of the main wall. Nersesian holds a ruler to the wall in preparation for working on a line of the "blocks", while the other artisan holds a roll of masking tape to apply to the edge of other "blocks." Much of the wall appears to have been worked on, with the blocks clearly defined and painted. On the reverse is an ink inscription reading "Workman Residence / north porch - main wall / during restoration / of decorative plaster / work ca. Jan 1979 / showing Dorothy Nersesian / of DN Graphics (in Bkgd.), Alta. / photo by archt." Beneath this is a stamp for restoration architect Raymond Girvigian with his name, address, and phone number, covered by a piece of tape. At the top of the reverse is a piece of corrective tape, covering an erroneous inscription reading "Temple Mausoleum." In good condition, the artifact shows little wear or damage. Number-Units: 1
