Description

RESTORATION OF STAIRS, LA CASA NUEVA COURTYARD Color: Brown A color polaroid photograph of the restoration of the stairs in the courtyard of La Casa Nueva, 30 January 1979. The view is from the top of the stairs looking down into the stairwell. Several of the balusters are bare wood and not yet painted, while others are done--all, however, were replaced, as can be seen in image .841. Part of the balcony floor is seen at left and lower right, this latter area appearing to either be stripped of paint or to be a new section. A small amount of the tiles along the wall of the stairwell are at lower right and a portion of the window, not yet repainted, from Edgar's bedroom is at the right. An inscription in blue ink at the bottom of the artifact reads "South Balcony - Balusters & Hand / Rail in place & on down Stairs. / 1/30/79." With little indication of wear or damage, the object is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
