Description

RESTORATION WORK ON ORIGINAL WEST WALL, EL CAMPO SANTO Color: Brown; Green A color polaroid photograph of the beginning of restoration on the original west wall of El Campo Santo, 12 April 1977. Taken from the west, the view shows the north side of the wall with, at left, a significant section of brick detached from the wall, presumably for repointing or replacement. The resulting pile of brick lies next to the hole. Smaller holes toward the center show where other sections were to be reworked and bricks lie on the ground from that removal, as well. To the right, one of the pillars still had the original black metal ball at the top. A tree is at the corner of the cemetery and, in the background, are other trees in planters, these being readied for use in the parking lot and other areas of the site being redeveloped. The ground in front of the wall is dirt and later was planted with grass. An inscription in pencil at the bottom of the artifact reads "West Wall - Restoration / Beginning ------- 4/12/77." There are few signs of wear or damage and the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
