Description
RESTORED FAMILY CREST, LA CASA NUEVA FRONT BALCONY GRILL
Color: Brown
A color reprint of a polaroid photograph showing a detail of the repainted and restored family crest from the cast-iron grille of the second-floor front of La Casa Nueva, ca. spring 1979. The grille was removed and taken down for restoration and it is shown standing on end on the patio floor just below the balcony, part of which is at the upper left. The family crest was repainted in yellow, blue, and black colors and the details are easily discernible, compared to the as-found condition, documented in item .837. Although hard to tell because of the dark green colors of the cypress tree in the background and the lighting, it appears the grille was stripped of rust and repainted. On the reverse in ink is the inscription "Temple Mansion / family crest / at north balcony / after restoration / photo ca. spring 1979 / (by decorative artist? DN Graphics, / Altadena)" Under this at lower right is a stamp for restoration architect Raymond Girvigian with his address and telephone number, covered by a piece of pressure sensitive tape. With little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition.
