Description

ROMERO AND SPRINGMAN FAMILIES AT HOMESTEAD SWIMMING POOL Color: Black; White A black and white reproduction photograph and copy of the Romero and Springman families at the Homestead swimming pool, ca. 1928. The photographer stood at the west side of the pool, which also served as a reservoir, looking toward the north end. On the end of a diving board is Frank Romero, ranch foreman and driver for the Temple family. On the platform at the other end are his wife, May, and two children, Jack and Doris, all at the left. The others are members of the Springman family, including the donor, Harriet, who is the small child next to the Romero children. In all, there are four men and three women, aside from the Romeros. Two men and one woman stand on what looks like an improvised diving board, next to the built one. At the lower left corner is part of a metal ladder emerging from the pool, which part of the pole fence and a light are at the far right. Landscaping, including bushes or shrubs and some palm trees surround the pool's north end in the background. On the back of both copies is the penciled number "844" at the center. With little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 2
