Description

Color: Black; White A photograph of downtown Los Angeles, 1906. The image, taken evidently from a rooftop shows the top of a strucure catty-corner to the photographer, appearing to be a residence, possibly an apartment building. Around and behind it is a construction site with steel supports in place. Further in the background are multi-story commercial buildings, some having signs or murals on them for identification, such as Bullock's department store and the Hotel Lankershim. These latter two were on Seventh Street at Broadway, so the location of the photographer might have been in the range of Twelfth and Hill, looking northeast. On the reverse is the ink inscription "Birds Eye View / Los Angeles / Cal." With creases, especially at the top center; light soiling; slight discoloration; folds at the top left corner; and some stains, the overall condition is fair. Number-Units: 1
