Description

ROTTEN FLOOR BOARDS FROM WATER TOWER UPPER DECK Color: Brown A color polaroid photograph of two pieces of wood flooring from the upper deck of the Water Tower, 5 April 1977. Taken for documentation of the site restoration, the image shows the two pieces laying on a long piece of wood, probably serving as a catwalk on the scaffolding used in the restoration of the structure. Both pieces appear to have been significantly attacked by termites at the ends and the wood is cracked, likely from age and exposure. It appears that the pieces were painted green. At the bottom of the image is an inscription in pencil reading "Upper Observation Deck-Flooring / Rotted & deteriated [sic] beyond saving / 4/5/77." With little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
